Galleries in the Museum

You’ll learn about the wild west, pirates, and then white collar crimes that are prevalent today. There are exhibits for famous crimes, such as O. J. Simpson, and you can see his getaway car. The second gallery is all about investigation of crimes. You’ll learn more about the process and how detectives go through to figure out who committed crimes. Other exhibits you can enjoy include crime fighting and crime in pop culture.
All throughout the year, Alcatraz East Crime Museum hosts temporary exhibits guests can enjoy. They typically are centered around crime and law enforcement. Some of the previous temporary exhibits include the 30th anniversary of Ted Bundy’s execution, wildlife trafficking, and an exhibit on Nicole Brown Simpson. You never know what the temporary exhibits will have, so you’ll have a fun surprise when you visit!
There are certain interactive exhibits that are gear towards kids to help them learn why crime is bad and more about the justice system. They can learn about pirates and outlaws from the Wild West. Crack-A-Safe allows kids to try to crack open a safe. They can participate in a police lineup to see what it’s like to be on the wrong side of the law. Kids will also have the opportunity to meet McGruff the Crime Dog.

The point of showcasing these items isn’t to glorify crime but to educate the pubic on what can happen if they don’t follow the laws and create awareness.
